NFC menus

NFC menus for bars and restaurants, always up to date

Do you make NFC table stands and displays for menus? With ReTag each venue gets one link: you write it once into the tags, and when the menu changes you just update the destination from the dashboard. The stands stay on the tables.

The problem: the menu changes, the tag doesn't

If you write the menu address straight into the tag, the day the venue changes file, website or platform, every stand leads to an old or empty page. And a menu changes often: seasons, prices, daily specials.

How it works

  1. 01

    One link per venue

In the dashboard you create a ReTag link and paste the address of the venue's menu.

  2. 02

Write it into all its stands

Every table, the counter and the terrace share the same address. You write it once, with a free app.

  3. 03

    Change the menu when needed

New menu? Update the destination in seconds and it applies at once to every stand.

When you need to change the destination

  • The seasonal menu

Autumn or summer comes: point the link at the new menu and the stands stay where they are.

  • An event or a special night

Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve, a tasting: a dedicated menu for that night, then back to the usual one.

  • A new website or a new file

The venue moves from a PDF to a website or another platform: you change the address once, without touching the tables.

  • The scheduled change

With Premium you set up the new menu today and pick the day and time: the destination changes by itself, even if you're away from the computer.

Where the menu can live

  • 1A page on the venue's website: the cleanest to keep up to date.
  • 2A PDF shared online, for example on Google Drive or Dropbox, open to anyone with the link.
  • 3A digital menu platform, if the venue already uses one.
  • 4Any web address: ReTag takes whoever taps the tag there, it doesn't host the menu.

Tips for the stand

  • 1Add a QR code with the same link for phones without NFC: ReTag already generates it, ready to print.
  • 2Write a clear call, for example "Tap your phone for the menu".
  • 3Use NTAG213, 215 or 216 tags and cover them with a few layers of plastic, under a millimetre.
  • 4Keep the tag away from metal: metal tables and bases disturb reading, so raise it by a few millimetres.
  • 5Check that the menu opens well on a phone: a heavy PDF or a slow page is felt more than a slow tag.
Does the customer need an app?

No. Recent iPhones and almost all Android phones read NFC tags on their own: a notification with the link appears. On Android, NFC must be on; for everyone else there's the QR code.

Can I use the same link on every table?

Yes, that's the recommended way: one link per venue, written into all its stands.

Does ReTag host the menu?

No: the menu stays where the venue already keeps it, on a website, an online PDF or a platform. ReTag bridges the tag and that address, which you can change anytime.

Can the menu switch by itself on a given date?

Yes, with the scheduled change of the Premium plan, at €10 a month: choose the new destination, the day and the time, and the link changes by itself. You can cancel it until it has happened.

How much does it cost if I work with several venues?

The Base plan includes 10 links, so up to 10 venues, and 3 customers with access, at €5 a month. The venue's owner can log in to see their links and, if you allow it, update the menu themselves.
